An important reminder for scribes in Christ is to never chase after the attention of people. Doing so is basically chasing after the validation of the flesh through the lust of the eyes. These are the main ways that the devil deceives people into doing his works: through the lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh, and the pride of life.
A very common tendency that occurs when people make content online solely for entertainment purposes or to gain attention—especially through bad publicity—is to garner a following. However, when people do this, they are only attracting the lust of the eyes of thousands who don’t really care about Jesus or His gospel and although this invites more people to hear the truth and to have seeds planted it can teach people the wrong impression of what it means to be a witness of Christ when a Christian decides to follow the same fleshly tactics that the world does to get people to notice them. By focusing on appealing to the flesh, so many people often make content that serves the devil because they care less about the content's true value. True care and love come from having faith in the Word of God, Jesus, which is love itself.
Plus, if you’re regularly online on social media you have likely already seen what I'm talking about. There are countless videos on YouTube and other platforms discussing how to retain viewership to grow your channel. However, it is all a constant loop of chasing after the audience’s attention while wasting time.
As written in the scriptures: “The eyes of man are never satisfied.” Thus, trying to watch or listen to content to “get more followers” is a waste of time. The flesh is never satisfied, and fulfilling its desires is what many “content creators” are doing. They focus on retaining as much attention as possible, wasting their time and lives trying to appeal to the flesh, which is never satisfied.
And if someone is still full of pride and self-gratification then they will often pridefully and lustfully seek attention AND money, leaving themselves open for Satan's influence because they would be focusing more on viewership and money than fulfilling God's Will. Remember, Jesus taught us that the love of money is the root of all evil. This is another reason for why so much media is made by individuals professing to make content in the name of Christ, yet the fruit of their media often mirrors the same type of content found in the secular world that is against Jesus!
You don’t need to chase people’s attention because Jesus makes us fishers of men, not the other way around.
Jesus leads His sheep to whatever meal He feeds them through you as His scribe. Remember that Jesus is the One who makes you a fisher of men, by drawing people to you through the Work of God, not through your own works or the works of the flesh which is what many people are doing to draw people to themselves.
